From 15–17 November 2018, sound archiving enthusiasts from across Ireland and the UK will meet in the National Library of Wales for the annual BISA (British and Irish Sound Archives) conference.

ITMA's latest digital exhibition has been shortlisted for the 2018 Spider Awards! A Grand Time: The Songs, Music, and Dance of Newfoundland’s Cape Shore is one of five finalists in the Tech for Good category, which honours the best charitable and not-for-profit website, platform, project or service. 

The Association of Performing Arts Collections (APAC) is holding their November 2018 study day in Galway. ITMA will be in attendance, represented by Marie Curie Fellow Lynnsey Weissenberger.

In August, ITMA travelled to Newfoundland to launch A Grand Time, a new digital exhibition about the songs, music, and dance of an Irish enclave in Newfoundland. Collector Aidan O'Hara and ITMA researcher Rebecca Draisey-Collishaw stopped into the CHMR Radio Station in St John's, Newfoundland, to discuss the origins of the project. 

Fresh from its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh, the Irish Film Institute (IFI) will screen Lomax in Éirinn on Saturday, 8 September 2018 at 18.30. ITMA is thrilled to feature as one of the production locations for this compelling documentary about the life and influence of American song collector Alan Lomax. 

For his final episode of The Rolling Wave, broadcaster Peter Browne listened back over some of his favourite music and songs—including recordings of whistle player Joe Cuneen from the Pete Shepheard Collection at ITMA.

Lynnsey Weissenberger, ITMA’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow, is headed to Leipzig, Germany this July to spread the word about LITMUS (Linked Irish Traditional Music).
