Two-row C#/D accordion player Ellen Flanagan (of Springfield, Tullamore, Co. Offaly), was the first musician I heard playing this. It was a very popular accordion-style tune during the early days of the Fleadh Cheoil competitions of the 1950s. It’s also in O’Neill’s 1850 collection.
