The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
Eóin Dillon was born in Dublin in the year 1971.
Growing up in suburban Blackrock, music came to his rescue.
Learning the tin whistle from a young age in primary school.
Having being introduced to the Uilleann Pipes by Mícheál Ó hAlmhain, Eóin attended classes in Comhaltas before finding the Pipers club in Heinrietta St., where he attended pipe classes and enjoyed the stories, tea and biscuits .
All good.
Having worked with pipe-maker Cilliain Ó Briain, Eóin spent time in Donegal, teaching wood work on Tory Island.
Staying in Donegal, learning tunes, learning gaelic, going to sessions, being introduced to some very fine musicians and given a great welcome everywhere.
Years spent touring the world, writing music and playing for films, theatre shows, festivals, gigs , traveling, playing all over Ireland.
Still playing, writing tunes and pipe-making, learning.
