The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
ITMA was delighted to be featured on RTÉ Nationwide on Friday, 20th February about our new satellite office in Oidhreacht an Chlair Miltown Malbay and our new Clare Digital Access Officer Liam O’Brien. Both Liam O’Brien and ITMA CEO Liam O’Connor discuss the new Clare office and how it will help ITMA to gather and archive the music of County Clare.
As Clare Digital Access and Development Officer, Liam O’Brien will facilitate the digitisation, cataloguing and increase in access to the more than 10,000 Clare-related materials currently housed in ITMA’s extensive collection in Dublin. Along with this, he will work with the community in Clare to bring new collections into the archive. As a result, this three-year position will provide the people of Clare with unprecedented access to their musical heritage — inspiring cultural engagement and contributing to the social, economic and cultural sustainability of the county. This position has been supported by The Michael Guinee Charitable Foundation.
