It was from an old Folkways recording that I first learned this reel, from the playing of the late Jean Carrignan of Montreal. His fiddle style, being of the French / Canadian tradition, gave the tune an offbeat kind of slant. Nevertheless, I loved its melody to the point of restructuring it to suit my own Irish interpretation.
