The inspiration for this title is a well-guarded orchard once owned by a miserly landlord in the 1870s. It is said that the local ‘straw boys’ got extra pleasure from robbing it. Piper Leo Rowsome is credited with reviving the jig’s popularity among pipers during the 1950s.
