The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
ITMA is delighted to announce the hiring of Heather Wallace to the position of Duty Librarian.
Heather is a recent MLIS graduate from University College Dublin, with a previous MA in Medieval History and a BA in History and Classics also from UCD. Heather was one of five interns from UCD who worked on accessing and rehousing ITMA’s LP collection during the Summer of 2025. Following this, she returned to ITMA as a library intern, before taking up the one year post of Duty Librarian.
As the librarian Heather is responsible for overseeing the library collection, including the acquisition of new materials, cataloguing, and assisting library users. Her time in ITMA has strengthened her understanding about the global impact of Irish traditional music, song and dance and the importance of preserving and disseminating ITMA’s collection. She is enthusiastic about continuing to develop her professional and practical skills so that she can provide full support to anyone who has an interest in exploring ITMA’s library collection.
