This is another of Sean’s very early compositions. I first heard it when he and box player Ellen Flanagan played it together in a competition for duets, which they won. This was around the mid-1960s and the tune was then very fresh in the consciousness of Fleadh competitors. Many were already playing it at street sessions, public houses, and ceilf bands like the Leitrim Céilí Band from Galway played it as part of their selections on Saturday night’s ‘Céilí House’ programme on Raidió Éireann.
