Glendart is a townsland in west Co. Cork and located near the birthplace of Francis O’Neill’s mother Kit O’Mahony. The tune is well known to many musicians as ‘Paddy’s Return’. I first heard it played by Donegal police sergeant John McDwyer, who played the fiddle and was stationed in my local town of Daingean in Co. Offaly.
