Catherine McEvoy’s flute playing woke me up to this jig, which she recorded with her brother John, who plays the fiddle. Their great playing of this jig brought me back to my young radio days in Co. Offaly, when I first heard it played by a great Co. Offaly box player Joe Whelan, who now lives in London. Mr. Darby himself was known for his expertise when in charge of an old jaunting car-hence the tune title.
