Tom ‘Billy’ Murphy was a blind fiddler from Co. Kerry. His many great tunes include this one, which he gave to his many pupils. He was a very colorful character who sometimes traveled on the back of a black donkey named ‘Nick.’ Nick is another name for the devil, which Tom thought to be a suitable name for his donkey.
