Walter Jackson, also known as ‘Piper’ Jackson, composed this jig along with several others, such as ‘Jackson’s Morning Brush’ and ‘Jackson’s Nightcap’. He is supposed to have been born in Co. Monaghan, but lived most of his life near Ballingeary, Co. Limerick. Jackson, who also played the fiddle, was born early in the 18th century.
