from Compositions by Jillian O’Malley
This waltz was composed in memory of my grandmother, Bridie Scanlon, who passed away in October 2025 at the age of 96. Among her many talents, she was an amazing knitter and crocheter. Many years ago she recalled a time when a lady came from Conamara to the village of Killeen to teach local women the basics of knitting. During this time, Nanny knit a ‘lovely lace collar’. This tune celebrates the many things she made and mended throughout her life and all the stories and aran sweaters she left us with.
