from Compositions by Jillian O’Malley
This jig was composed in 2021 as part of the New Music of Mayo Commissions 2021, curated by Emer Mayock. It is named after my homeplace, Killadoon, an area of extraordinary natural beauty overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the neighbouring islands. Killadoon is situated approximately 9km from the town of Louisburgh in County Mayo. The landscape, coastline and strong sense of place have been a constant source of inspiration for me, and this tune carries that connection to home.
