from Compositions by Liz Knowles
This waltz/air has special meaning to me as it was written shortly after I suffered a horseback riding accident which, very thankfully, only resulted in a broken collarbone and a sore hip. Before the accident, I was going through a rough period of time in which I was frustrated with life as a musician. The accident happened not long after Christopher Reeve had his paralyzing accident and as I lay on the ground, not knowing whether or not I could move yet, I vowed I would never take music – or my life – for granted. There were many gifts that came from that time recovering from the injuries and I have never again taken music or playing the violin for granted. (Performance note: I play this tune in this form, AABBAACCA. Feel free to move the parts around! I did!)
