from Compositions by Michelle Mulcahy
This reel was one of the tunes I wrote for the original compositional work I was awarded by Limerick City & Council to compose a musical work commemorating the cententary of the birth of Ciarán Mac Mathúna which was performed in King’s John Castle in Limerick in November 2025. The title, ‘An Dlúthghaol’ which translates as that ‘special connection’ was inspired by the very special connection Ciarán so evidently had with people. He was a national treasure and was loved and adored by people throughout the country and is still so fondly spoken of by people today. This reel is dedicated to the memory of the great Ciarán Mac Mathúna.
