Originally from Tullow County Carlow and now living in West Clare, Mick plays harmonica and English concertina.
Besides being a highly respected traditional musician his other musical genres include jazz, blues, rock and bluegrass. He is also an educator, having taught harmonica workshops worldwide. A much sought after session musician, he has featured on over fifty albums to date including Altan, Michael Flateys Celtic Tiger, Billy Connolly, Mick Hanley, Josephine Marsh and Cormac Breathnach. Film and television work includes The General, Billy Connollys World Tour and Ballad of the Sad Café.
He also played harmonica on Pat Shortts television series Mattie.
Publications include Blues Harp from Scratch and the forthcoming Reversed Slide Chromatic Harmonica in Traditional Irish Music.
Mick has recorded albums with Steve Larkin on fiddle and Donal Siggins on bouzouki and guitar, The Slightly Bewildered String Band and Triple Harp Bypass with Brendan Power, Rick Epping and Martin Dunlea.
His own world music album Harmonica is on his own label.
