The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
Barry Kerr is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and visual artist whose creative work expresses the very heart of Irish life. Originally from the southern shores of Lough Neagh and now living in Connemara, he has enjoyed a long and successful career as a touring artist and has shared a stage with some of the greatest performers in Irish music.
Barry is an acclaimed composer and was awarded the prestigious Liam O’Flynn award from the National Concert Hall and the Arts Council in 2020. He subsequently released ‘Cairn’, an album of original compositions.
His recent work explores the concept of relating visual art with musical performance and composition, as seen in his film ‘Fuascail’, a unique creative contemplation on the decade of centenaries in sound and colour that was released on TG4 in December 2022.
He was traditional musician in residence at UCC in 2023 and is currently recording a new album of original and traditional songs.
