Recordings made by Philip Donnellan of traditional singer & schoolteacher Seán ‘ac Dhonncha (1919-1996) in Ahascragh, Co. Galway, 1960s. The tapes will likely have been recorded by Philip Donnellan a BBC documentary filmmaker – possibly during his research (undertaken with Séamus Ennis) for a film he made entitled The Irishmen – An Impression of Exile (1965); a copy of which is held with the IFI Archives. Jim Murphy Collection. 64 audio cassettes the recordings made by Jim Murphy, Newmarket, Co. Cork featuring sessions in Dan Connell’s pub, Knocknagree, as well as sessions in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare during the Willie Clancy Summer School. Musicians featured include Paddy Cronin, Denis Murphy, Julia Clifford and Johnny O’Leary amongst others, 1970s–1980s. Donated by his son Jim Murphy.
Joan O’Bryan-Harriott Collection. 19 reel-to-reel tapes. The recordings were made by Joan O’Bryan-Harriott with a portable recorder in various locations across Ireland including Dublin, Carna, Co. Galway and Gortahork, Co. Donegal. Musicians featured include Willie Clancy, Séamus Ennis, Liam Clancy, and Joe Heaney – many of whom Joan knew personally, c. 1960s. Donated by Joan O’Bryan-Harriott
