This collection of flyers, or handbills, are just some of the publicity materials that were generated by Don Meade for weekly concerts in The Eagle Tavern in New York. The tavern closed down in 1994 and the concert series moved to The Blarney Star, which was subsequently renamed as Biddy Early’s in 2003. Around that time the series moved to the Glucksman Ireland House at New York University.

The collection of flyers reflects an almost continuous run of concerts in these venues over two decades. Reading the list of performers makes one wish that they had lived in New York at the time and were treated each week to the cream of Irish traditional music and song. Local musicians and singers, those travelling from other parts of America or visiting from Ireland all featured. Each night was recorded by Don Meade, and he has generously donated these recordings to ITMA.
