The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance. If you’re able, we’d love for you to consider a donation. Any level of support will help us preserve and grow this tradition for future generations.
Join us at The Westbridge, Miltown Malbay for a special evening celebrating the life, music and legacy of the great East Galway accordion player Joe Burke.
Anne Conroy Burke will be joined in conversation by Pádraic Mac Mathúna, looking back through Joe’s life in music – from his early influences and the musicians who shaped him, to his recordings, travels, broadcasting, teaching and his deep interest in the many different strands of music.
The evening will draw on photographs, archive recordings and stories from Joe’s own collection, alongside live music and contributions from family, friends and musicians who knew him.
There will also be special guests on the night.
The following night, Saturday 21 November, ITMA’s Drawing from the Well Tour 2026 comes to Miltown Malbay.
Curated by Seán Potts in partnership with RTÉ100, this year’s tour celebrates “The Solo Voice in Irish Music” and will feature Aoife Nic Cormaic, Libby McCrohan, Pádraic Keane and Jesse Smith, along with a special guest on the night.
The concert will be preceded by a discussion drawing on archival material of solo musicians from the RTÉ music archives.
