The Spotted Dog celebrates the well-known public house in Digbeth, Birmingham, which was once renowned for its traditional Irish music sessions. Digbeth has long been associated with Birmingham’s Irish community and was the location of the city’s first Irish Centre. Records show that uilleann pipers settled in Digbeth during the late nineteenth century, and it is said that one of them travelled to London to perform at the first Gaelic League céilí held there.
