    The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) is committed to providing free, universal access to the rich cultural tradition of Irish music, song and dance.     Make your donation go further: a donation of €250 or more in any tax year is worth an additional 44.93% to ITMA. So for €50 more, ITMA can claim an additional €112.33 tax back from revenue.

    Irish-based donors can see their donations augmented by the State through the CHY3 form, which makes any donation above €250 worth €362.33 towards ITMA’s archival work, at no additional cost to you.

    ITMA is eligible for 501(c)3 donations, so for potential donors based in the USA, donating to ITMA can be a tax efficient way of making more and more archival material accessible to remote users.

    Paddy O’Brien (Offaly), in conversation with Liam O’Connor

    Saoithe: Episode 8

    On a visit to Ireland in May 2023 the Offaly-born accordion player, collector and composer Paddy O’Brien was interviewed in ITMA for the Saoithe series.  He sat down with Liam O’Connor and talked about learning music; playing with the Ballinamere and Castle Céilí bands; collecting music in Galway and Donegal; emigrating to America in the 1980s; his tune collection, which comprises recordings of 1,500 tunes and his own writings and compositions. The chat is filled with stories and memories of his musical friendships.
