Ann Sheehy of Lixnaw, Co. Kerry comes to mind when I remember first hearing this hornpipe. I later learned it from the playing of Winston ‘Scotty’ Fitzgerald, who played it in his own Cape Breton style. His fiddle version of it was in fast reel time, which left little room for its melodic sentiment to breathe forth in its notes. As a hornpipe, its sentiment has a Victorian era quality, or perhaps a lullabye from a distant childhood. Fiddler Seamus Connolly of Killaloe, Co. Clare and now Boston gave me the title of this.
