Another title for this reel is ‘The Ballymahon Reel’ because of the late Longford fiddle player James Hanley, who was its source. James was a local musician who lived outside of Ballymahon. He gave the tune to his nephew Sean Keane, who popularized it as a member of the Castle Céilí Band. This reel is an old traditional classic that deserves uncommon attention.
