Paddy O’Brien was born near Daingean, Co. Offaly in 1945 and he moved to the USA in the 1980s. A tune collector all of his life he recorded and published 1,500 tunes as the Paddy O’Brien Tune Collection between 1993 and 2015.
As well as collecting tunes, and information about tunes, he is also a composer and 47 of his compositions appear in his own collection. This playlist features Paddy playing each of those compositions. There are 21 reels, 2 hornpipes, 8 polkas, 6 slip jigs, 5 marches, 4 hop jigs and 1 slow air.
