ITMA Director Grace Toland is off to University College Cork from 18-22 June 2018 to attend the American Conference for Irish Studies. Responding to the conference theme, 'Environments of Irish Studies,' Grace will address attendees on the 'environment of study' at ITMA.

ITMA Director Grace Toland will be returning to her native Donegal on 8 June 2018 to present at the Donegal Diaspora International Conference 2018. She will join a range of national and international speakers invited to present on the theme of 'Culture and the Importance of Belonging to Place.' 

It's been a busy month for post-doctoral fellow, Lynnsey Weissenberger. She's once again heading off to represent ITMA at CONUL — the Consortium of National & University Libraries — in Galway. Her presentation will explore future applications of linked data and the LITMUS project for ITMA.

The May edition of 'Soul Clap Its Hands and Sing' is just around the corner. This month, poet Doireann Ní Ghríofa and composer Linda Buckley are exploring themes of fire and ignition, and finding out what sparks in the space between words and music. In 2014, ITMA partnered with Europeana Sounds. As part of a €6.14-million project that ran over three years, libraries and archives from all over Europe worked together to make more than 1,000,000 sound records and sound-related objects freely available online. Some of the recordings that ITMA provided are now appearing in blogs associated with that project.
