#WhoIsAdolpho. Part 2. Clues

We shared the story of strange names in our catalogues and mystery Spanish dancers at the 2008 Willie Clancy Summer School online and on facebook in September 2019. Our intrepid facebook followers have brought clues to help unravel the mystery ...

Bill Lynch, publisher of the legendary Set Dancing News (SDN) sent us a facebook message with insider knowledge gleaned from SDN August/September 2008.

With a beautifully bound collection of SDN on the ITMA shelves, we carefully thumbed (we are librarians!) with baited breath to page 20 .....

And so we found the following:

Meanwhile, Timmy asked our group to meet in the hall by 9 pm in advance of our performance sometime before 10 o’clock – we were on last! Our two ladies dancing as gents had taken their roles seriously enough to sport caps, braces and even moustaches, and also to give themselves stage names – meet Pat Joe and Adolfo! All went well at the appointed time – how could it be otherwise with Timmy playing and calling out the moves for us? Most of all he wanted us to have fun and show it! We did have great craic – which is why we got such a good response from the audience.

So Adolfo (not Adolpho) and Pat Joe, if you remember or recognise yourself or indeed if you have any idea who she/he/they is/are we would love to know.

We seek him here we seek him there ...
