TG4 to Award Gradam Ceoil 2015 to ITMA
The staff of ITMA, its Board and many friends were delighted to learn recently that TG4, the national Irish-language television station, is to award one of its prestigious Gradaim Cheoil (traditional music awards) for 2015 to ITMA this month.
The award is a Gradam Comaoine (special contribution award) and will be given to ITMA for its work over the years in ensuring ‘the preservation and dissemination of our traditional music, making certain that the next generation will always have access to the music of yesterday and today’. This award from the traditional music community comes after the recent award to ITMA from the professional library-information community of a 2014–15 IAML Excellence Award for Music Libraries from the International Association of Music Libraries.
The Gradam Comaoine and the other TG4 Gradaim Cheoil will be given at a live TG4 televised concert in the Cork Opera House on Sunday 22 February 2015 at 8.00 p.m. Tickets are available here. Be sure to join us!
