Lomax in Éirinn at the IFI

Fresh from its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh, the Irish Film Institute (IFI) will screen Lomax in Éirinn on Saturday, 8 September 2018 at 18.30. ITMA is thrilled to feature as one of the production locations for this compelling documentary about the life and influence of American song collector Alan Lomax.

In the documentary film Lomax in Éirinn, director Declan McGrath uses archival footage, landscapes, and interviews with contemporary musicians to explore the influence of American musicologist Alan Lomax and his 1951 trip to Ireland. Watch carefully for appearances by ITMA directors (past and present) Nicholas Carolan and Grace Toland, as well as former ITMA staff member Danny Diamond.

The screening at the IFI will be followed by a Q&A with director Declan McGrath, hosted by Ruth Smith from TG4’s Fleadh TV, and a musical performance by Clannad’s Pól and Moya Brennan.
