Kyle Macaulay is a Donegal native and guitarist who is recognised for both his solo playing and rhythmic accompaniment, inspired by the music of Steve Cooney and his time spent in Corca Dhuibhne performing with the Begley family.

He graduated from University College Cork in 2020 with a first-class honours BAMus degree and in 2021 graduated top of the BMus programme. While in college, he was awarded multiple honours including the University’s prestigious ‘Quercus Talented Students' Programme’ for outstanding contribution to performing arts.

Between 2020 and 2022 Kyle trained and worked as a chef in Corca Dhuibhne, managing the Tig Áine kitchen throughout Summer 2022, and developing a unique food and music pairing menu.

In his new role as Executive Assistant, Kyle will bring this wealth of experience and high standards to assist ITMA in meeting and assessing its strategic goals, developing and growing artist-led projects and procuring new sources of funding.

Deir Kyle:

Is mór an pribhléid atá agam chun cuir le iarrachtaí iontacha an Taisce Cheoil. Táim ag súil go mór mór le bheith ag obair leis an bhfoireann chumasach, dhomain seo chun tábhacht agus saibhreas an cheoil a chuir in iúl i measc an phobal Gaelach.
It is a great honour for me to have the opportunity to contribute to the excellent work of the ITMA. I’m excited to work with the committed, talented team here in highlighting the importance and richness of our traditional music.
