As part of the Explore Your Archive campaign, ITMA invites you to discover some of the remarkable material in its collection. Two special exhibitions will take place in ITMA’s premises at 73 Merrion Square, Dublin 2, from 16 to 22 November 2013, which will be complemented by online exhibitions in ITMA’s Digital Library. Celebrate the centenary of ‘Danny Boy’ and learn the history behind this famous song, listen to early recordings of Irish traditional music, and hear the stories behind ITMA’s unique collection of wax cylinder recordings. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. For regular updates visit our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter @ITMADublin.
Explore Your Archive is a new campaign to encourage people to visit their local archive to discover the stories and history at the heart of our communities. Archives across the UK and Ireland are taking part to raise awareness of archives, promote their value to both individuals and society, and highlight the variety and wealth of material that is available in Archive collections. The campaign in the Irish region is being supported by the National Archives of Ireland (NAI) and Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) and the Archives and Records Association, Ireland (ARAI).
