Athbhliain faoi mhaise / Happy New Year

Athbhliain faoi mhaise ó fhoireann Thaisce Cheol Dúchais Éireann. Happy New Year from all the staff at the Irish Traditional Music Archive.

Gabhaimid ár mbuíochas daoibh go léir a d’úsáid suíomh idirlíon ITMA i mbliana agus dóibh súid a leanann agus a thugann tacaíocht don Taisce go rialta.

Many thanks to all of you who have interacted with, or used, ITMA’s digital offerings this year and also to those who regularly follow and support our work.

A special thanks to donors of collections and to “Friends of ITMA” whose financial support enables us to do more.

It has been an extraordinary year on many fronts and we will be sharing our detailed reflections on 2020 early in the New Year. We aimed to help fill the void created in people’s lives due to Covid-19 restrictions by increasing our digital content for users and we are delighted to report over 1,000,000 meaningful engagements took place in 2020.

We would like to thank our funders the Arts Council, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, the OPW and the Heritage Council for their financial support and for being so accommodating during the Covid-19 crisis. Also, we would like to thank our many partners, guest artists and researchers who have worked with us on huge volume of projects this year.

As Director, I would like to give special praise to the staff at ITMA who have worked tirelessly this year adapting to unforeseen changes with a level of professionalism, passion and commitment which was truly inspiring to witness. I feel privileged to work for Irish traditional music, song and dance through ITMA and to work with such an excellent, intelligent and high-achieving staff and Board.

We look forward to a musical 2021 and to announcing some very exciting new series, projects and awards in the New Year.

Míle buíochas,

Liam O'Connor

Director ITMA
