Work on the Cullinane Archive Collection Continues

In the second installment of documenting her work with the Cullinane Archive Collection (CAC), Stephanie SK Marbach uses video to describe the process of preserving, organising and cataloguing the photographic material in the CAC.

my favourite part of this journey is looking at each photograph closely. Every photograph feels a bit like opening up a treasure chest. Proud eyes of dancers from the past look back at me, many in delicately hand-embroidered costumes, in groups, with their teachers, or holding their precious prizes.

CAC is an extensive multimedia collection of material relating to the history of Irish dance compiled by Dr John Cullinane over his lifetime. The collection includes: published books and periodicals, academic theses, non-commercial sound recordings, video recordings, photographs, historical documents, newspaper clippings, ephemera (event programmes, posters, flyers etc.) and artefacts (including costume items, medals, etc.).

The Cullinane Archive Collection will be made available to the the public when all transfers and processing is complete.
