Adam Girard, ITMA Digital Archivist, attends international workshop in Germany

Recently Adam Girard, ITMA’s Digital Archivist was awarded a scholarship to attend a workshop at Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, near Berlin, Germany.

The five-day, practice-oriented program entitled Digital Archives Summer School focused on the challenges of managing digital media assets in an archival context. It brought together professionals from archival institutions as near as continental Europe, and as far as South America, Asia, and the Middle East.

Presentations given as part of the Summer School covered a wide array of topics. These included:

  • digitisation workflows;
  • digital curation and preservation;
  • linked open data.

The skills and experiences gained at the workshop will be a boon to ITMA as more digital materials are acquired.
