Shore lands of Lough Foyle, song / Cornelius McEleney, singing in English

There’s a lovely little island far far across the sea
In dreams I oft times wander back to where I long to be
It’s there I spent my younger days on my native Irish soil
‘Round the North West coast of Ireland and the shore lands of Lough Foyle

Those days of youth still haunt me though it’s many years ago
Since I left the friends behind me and the folks I used to know
From my home near Limavady where I used to work and toil
‘Round the North West coast of Ireland and the shore lands of Lough Foyle

I remember Ballykelly, Greysteel and Faughan vale
And the lovely Derry city from where my boat set sail
As that ship sailed out of harbor I could feel the tear drops fall
As I bid farewell to Ireland and the shore lands of Lough Foyle

This land of my adoption has been more than kind to me
And I’m blessed with health and happiness, a wife and family
Yet there’s one thing I still long for, it’s my native Irish soil
‘Round the North West coast of Ireland on the shore lands of Lough Foyle
