There’s a pretty spot in old Ireland in the county of Tyrone
It stands along the verdant banks of the lovely river Mourne
Between Strabane and Newtonstewart surrounded by high hills
They say it is a lovely place they call it the Sion Mills.

The Sion village it is fine the finest in our isle
Its dells they are most beautiful and kept in first class style
To describe the beauty of that place at present I’m not inclined
I’m going to tell you all about a charming maid of mine.

The first time I saw this charmer I felt alone and sad
'Twas then I thought of asking her the way that she was going
Saying I’m making rather free but allow me love to stay
I would like for to escort you a piece along the way.

She refused to have my company I felt alone and sad
‘Twas then she turned around and says come on my Irish lad
And when she murmured those few words my heart with joy did fill
For I never thought I could win the heart of the queen of Sion Mills.

In the little church of Saint Mary’s convenient to Strabane
Our wedding bells they will ring out and I’m sure it will be grand
If ever a man was happy I’m really sure I will
To have a nice young wife to cheer up my life she’s the queen of the Sion Mills.
