Green fields of Annagh, song / Cornelius McEleney, singing in English

There are green fields in Annagh and hearts both kind and true
When I will be across the seas, my thoughts will lie on you
And the days I spent around Annagh’s green fields along with you

From the heath-clad hills of Annagh you could see Lough Swilly tide
Breaking on the pebble shore with many a rock beside
The lovely bay of Binnion and the headlands of Dunaff
The town of Ballyhillion and the hills of fair Culdaff

You could see the hills of Malin at a distance far away
The primrose grand in Pollen Strand lies at anchor in the Bay
The castle of O’Doherty’s, Glasheady’s lovely Isle
Those scenes of happy memories, they are with me all the while

It is now I’m leaving Annagh and perhaps will never see
Where the lovely rose of Shandrim dwells and of happy memories
But while there’s life there is always hopes, and this I’ll pledge to you
I will not forget old Annagh and the hearts both kind and true
