Brian O'Rourke is a graduate of University College, Galway and was awarded a Doctorate of Literature in Paris in 1976. He is best known in traditional singing circles for his publication, Blas Meala : a sip from the honey pot (1985), Gaelic folk songs with singable English translations. This publication was accompanied with audio tapes of singers from the Gaeltacht performing their own songs in both modes. Secondly he holds a high reputation as a gifted song writer - mostly humorous and witty, yet thought provoking. He is part responsible for the organising of the Feakle Singers' Festival and has an involvement with The Galway City Singers' Club. He is a regular contributor to many TV and Radio programmes and travels widely to sessions and song festivals here and abroad.
