This August, ITMA launched A Grand Time, a new digital exhibition about the songs, music, and dance of an Irish enclave in Newfoundland. While in St John's, Newfoundland to launch the website, collector Aidan O'Hara and ITMA researcher Rebecca Draisey-Collishaw stopped into the CHRM Radio Station to discuss the origins of the project. 

Fresh from its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh, the Irish Film Institute (IFI) will screen Lomax in Éirinn on Saturday, 8 September 2018 at 18.30. ITMA is thrilled to feature as one of the production locations for this compelling documentary about the life and influence of American song collector Alan Lomax.

For his final episode of The Rolling Wave, broadcaster Peter Browne listened back over some of his favourite music and songs—including recordings of whistle player Joe Cuneen from the Pete Shepheard Collection at ITMA.

The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) and the Arts Office of Clare County Council are offering an exciting opportunity for an emerging or established artist from any artistic genre. Artists (musicians, visual artists, dancers, writers, performers, etc.) are invited to reflect /respond creatively to the collections and materials that are of relevance or reference County Clare, which are held in ITMA.

‘A Grand Time: The songs, music, and dance of Newfoundland’s Cape Shore’ is ITMA’s newest digital resource. This freely accessible website makes available for the first time more than 60 historic audio recordings of songs, stories, and music recorded by Irish-Canadian broadcaster Aidan O’Hara during the 1970s. With the support of Culture Ireland and local partners in Newfoundland, ITMA is unveiling the project at a series of events scheduled for 1–4 August 2018.
