Paddy Glackin, Noel Hill, Louise Mulcahy, Pádraic Mac Mathúna, Seán Keane, Mary Bergin, Tony Linanne and Stephen Rea are just some of the artists to appear in The Liam O’Flynn Series at the National Concert Hall this March and April.

Enjoy three nights of music and the spoken word inspired by the legacy of Liam O’Flynn featuring some of Ireland’s leading Irish traditional musicians. Hear O’Flynn’s original compositions, traditional favourites, & poetry inspired by the master uilleann piper performed by his peers & younger masters of tradition.

The three concerts presented by the Irish Traditional Music Archive in association with the National Concert Hall and generously supported by the Arts Council, will offer audiences a unique chance to hear previously unheard of original compositions of the celebrated piper and recitations from his written musings on traditional music, some of which inspired poetry by his fellow collaborator Seamus Heaney during the Poet & the Piper series.

All of the events take place at The Studio, National Concert Hall, Dublin 2. Tickets cost €20 (Discounts available). Book online at www.nch.ie.

The Liam O’Flynn Collection at ITMA

The materials in the Liam Flynn Collection are multimedia in nature and represent the working collection of a professional Irish traditional musician who travelled both nationally and internationally performing as a solo artist, as well as with many of Ireland’s top musicians. O’Flynn’s frequent collaborations with internationally recognised artists are also evident throughout this collection, most notably his work with Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney. The collection includes: published books and periodicals, commercial and non-commercial sound recordings, video recordings, photographs, original and photocopied music scores, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reviews, ephemera (event programmes, posters, flyers etc.), business related papers (contracts etc.) and research notes. The collection is currently stored in 18 archival boxes and was kindly donated to ITMA by Jane O’Flynn.
