The EuropeanaTech conference focuses on cultural heritage and technology, especially important as 2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage. Researchers, academics, technologists—and others working in libraries, archives, and museums—will share information on current projects and innovations happening across Europe. This year’s theme, “Gorgeous Data, Glorious Technology—The digital face of culture,” examines how people interact with cultural heritage data in a digital environment.

Lynnsey will present an overview of the LITMUS (Linked Irish Traditional Music) project, its challenges, and opportunities. Her paper, titled “Litmus: Developing a Linked Data Ontology for Irish Traditional Music and Dance,” discusses the methodology for developing the properties (relationships) of the ontology. In order to better reflect how musicians actually discuss relationships in traditional music, these relationships are sourced from a sample of commercial music album notes spanning more than 60 years.
