About ITMA
The Irish Traditional Music Archive / Taisce Cheol Dúchais Éireann (ITMA) is the national public reference archive and resource centre for the traditional song, instrumental music and dance of Ireland. Based at 73 Merrion Square, Dublin, ITMA holds the largest collection of Irish traditional music, song and dance in existence. ITMA is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee and is primarily funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, the OPW and Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
Digital Communications and Engagement Officer
A new position of Digital Communications and Engagement Officer will arise in January 2023 to develop ITMA’s online presence and engage new audiences with the message and work of the organisation.
This role requires an individual with creative skills, who would work closely with ITMA’s CEO and management team to develop and deliver a comprehensive digital communications strategy that supports ITMA’s event planning and engages audiences with the organisation’s work. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of executing successful digital campaigns, analysing audience statistics and evaluating online engagement. ITMA will have a new Wordpress based website, to be launched in early 2023, and it is expected that the successful candidate will manage and create content on this platform.

Title: Digital Communications and Engagement Specialist
Reporting to: Director/CEO of ITMA
Purpose: To develop and manage ITMA’s online presence and engage new audiences with the message and work of the organisation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce and manage content for the ITMA website and social media platforms to support key ITMA events and announcements.
- Design and execute digital campaigns to raise awareness, understanding and appreciation of ITMA, its work and its services.
- Take a leading role in the development a comprehensive digital communications strategy for ITMA in conjunction with ITMA CEO and management team.
- Utilise design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite to create eye-catching and impactful visual assets, including infographics, animation and data visualisations.
- Using analytics tools, develop a comprehensive understanding of audience engagement with ITMA posts and content. Provide regular reports on how posts are performing relative to KPIs set out in the digital communications strategy.
- Manage ITMA’s online shop (Shopify) and analyse trends using user behaviour analytics.
- Monitor trends in social media applications to deliver on new tactics to engage with new and existing audiences.
- Plan and manage a monthly social media content calendar.
- Work closely with ITMA’s CEO and management team to ensure the delivery of strategic objectives.
- In line with the evolving needs of the organisation, undertake other duties as may from time to time be assigned.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate examples from their past experience, work, and/or training which highlight their capability and desire for this role.
Candidate Requirements:
- A level 8 degree in a relevant field or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Experience in a communications role, with specific experience of co-ordinating digital/social media and building engagement
- Strong copywriting skills, with proven experience creating and editing content for social and digital media.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to create and edit simple video content.
- Excellent multimedia, design, animation, and photo-editing skills (Canva, Photoshop, etc.)
- Experience of website management using WordPress and online shop management.
- Experience in SEO work and implementation of on-page SEO work
- Experience in using Google Analytics and social media analytics reports and using the data to decide on future digital marketing strategies
- Experience in using SEO reports and using data to decide on future SEO work
The following skills, experience and interests would be an advantage:
- Experience and knowledge of Irish traditional music, song and dance
- Competence in spoken and written Irish
- Familiarity with cultural/arts infrastructure within which ITMA operates in Ireland, and/or relevant knowledge of comparable cultural arts structures elsewhere
- Full driving licence would be desirable but not essential
Terms and Conditions
The post will be offered as an initial 1 year fixed-term contract with a 3 month probation period. The salary offered is commensurate with equivalent positions in the arts sector and within ITMA’s staff salary structures. It will also depend on the experience and suitability of the successful candidate.
