British and Irish Sound Archives 2018

From 15–17 November 2018, sound archiving enthusiasts from across Ireland and the UK will meet in the National Library of Wales for the annual BISA conference. BISA (British and Irish Sound Archives) is a gathering/network/platform that facilitates the exchange of information on all practical aspects of audio archiving. Presentations and informal networking go hand-in–hand, and news on new projects, ideas, and practical advice are generously shared among those in attendance.

ITMA is an active member of BISA. Director Grace Toland is part of the organising committee and ITMA staff have presented in the past and attended annually. ITMA sound collections are also displayed in the BISA Online Directory.

Launched in May 2014, the Directory of British and Irish Sound Archives contains collection descriptions, information on access arrangements, and contact details for sound collections held within the British Isles. BISA is always interested in adding new collections—both public and private—to the directory, so please get in touch via the BISA website if you are interested in taking part.

We encourage you to check out the range of papers at BISA 2018, as well as the special training day. Even better, sign up for the event. And please say hello if you are in Wales to our colleague Lynnsey Weissenberger, who will be flying the ITMA flag.
