Handwritten manuscripts

About

A very interesting aspect of work in the Irish Traditional Music Archive is dealing with the manuscripts in the collection.  Manuscripts are housed in archival quality pockets and boxes and stored in the Special Collections Room.  What often strikes visitors when viewing the manuscripts is the diffent hands in which they are written.  The collection covers all aspects of penmanship from the neat and meticulous to the illegible scrawl.  Some manuscripts are works of art while others are more akin to childish scribbles.

Presented here are a selection of handwritten manuscripts taken from the Online Collections.  Each image has a link to take you to the manuscript in its entirety.
