Nigel Boullier is the author of 'Handed Down: Country Fiddling and Dancing in East and Central Down'. He will take us on a journey through time looking at the traditional fiddle playing and dancing culture in County Down, This will be a unique insight within traditional music and dance in Ireland due to the demographic nature of the county – the musicians, their music and dance, having been drawn from both unionist and nationalist communities. Fiddle player Geordie McAdam accompanies the lecture.

4. IT GOES AS FOLLIES - IN ONÓIR CIARÁN CARSON

An entertaining evening of flute music at Madden’s Bar inspired by the late Ciarán Carson’s
book ‘Last Night’s Fun’. 2014 Musician of the Year recipient Harry Bradley, 2018 recipient Catherine McEvoy, Davey Maguire & Brendan O’Hare will lead a Belfast Flute Gathering discussing and celebrating the emergence of the Belfast Flute Style in honour of Ciarán Carson.
