Recording the Tradition Exhibition: Sound Technology & Irish Traditional Music

A wide variety of technology has been used to record and playback Irish traditional music since the invention of sound recording by Thomas Edison in 1877. This exhibition presents a range of analogue & digital audio equipment including the ITMA Wax Cylinder Collection & Cylinder players which is currently being preserved thanks to a Heritage Council grant awarded to ITMA in May 2016. The exhibition will also form part of activities taking place during Merrion Square Open Day, Saturday 27 August.
