Lyrics

There’s a lovely little island far far across the sea
And in dreams I often wander back to where I long to be
It was there I spent my younger days my native Irish soil
On the North West coast of Ireland on the shore lands of the Foyle

My thoughts of you still haunt me although it’s many years ago
Since I left my friends behind me and the folks I used to know
Near my home in Limavady where I used to work and toil
‘Round the North West coast of Ireland on the shore lands of the Foyle

I remember Ballykelly Greysteel and Faughan vale
And lovely Derry city from where I first set sail
As our ship pulled out of harbour I could feel the tear drops fall
As I bid farewell to Ireland and the shore lands of the Foyle

Oh the land of my adoption has been very kind to me
I’m blessed with wealth and happiness a wife and family
But there’s one thing I still long for it’s my native Irish soil
‘Round the North West coast of Ireland on the shore lands of the Foyle
