Good news from home good news for me
That came across the dark blue sea
From friends that I have left in tears
From friends I have not seen for years.

No father dear to guide me now
No mother kind to soothe my brow
No sister’s voice rings in my ears
No brother’s voice to dry my tears.

When I see that cottage door
Where I spent years of joy before
'Twas there I knew of no toil or care
My heart was always happy there.

I may never see it more
Or stand upon green Erin’s shore
But where on earth I’m doomed to roam
My heart will be with those at home.
